First time I got a medal in a cross country race(2019)

Waking up at 4:30, Warming up, Fields of wet grass, My heart raceing and butterflys in my stomach, open strides, People watching me run/struggle, going faster at the end, the joy I felt when I finished

It was a warm morning but my body was cold. The fields of grass were wet and blades of it suck to my shoes. I swung my legs, stretched my calves and warmed up.. my stomach had butterflies in it and being so nervous I didn’t know if u had to pee. READY…SET…GOO! As the gun went off and I ran with open strides. My heart was raceing but I had to control my breathing. I saw all the people shouting ‘GO YOU GOT THIS’ my tired legs wanted to stop and rest. Before I knew it I was sprinting to the finish line and got placed. I was overwhelmed with joy but out-of- breath. She handed me the medal and I was proud, confident and thrilled.

I remember: Uses the 5 senses

Smell – the acorn soup, deer meat. hearing – the cry of an owl. sight- grandpa sitting in the chair with his bog. touch – when he got caught and got beat with a stick. taste – earing popcorn and drink water from a discarded coke cup
